The 2025 SD Motion Drive features Yamaha's first major system upgrade in over a decade — delivering stronger, smoother power for everyday journeys. Increased torque means confident hill-climbing up to 10 degrees, and an uprated load capacity of 160kg (rider, luggage and chair combined) gives you headroom for longer days out, busier streets and tougher terrain.

Will the Drive fit my manual wheelchair?
The SD Motion Drive is compatible with a wide range of leading manual wheelchair models. We'll check the fit during your free home demo and confirm bracket and wheel options for your specific chair.
What's the difference between the 16" and 24" systems?
The 24" system gives a longer range (approx 25km) and is the more common choice for outdoor use. The 16" system (approx 20km range) is suited to smaller, more compact chairs where a larger wheel wouldn't fit. We'll advise based on your chair and how you intend to use it.
How long does the battery take to charge?
The Li-Ion battery fully charges in approximately 5 hours from a standard UK socket. It weighs 2.4kg and has carry handles, so you can remove it for indoor charging or transport easily.
Can a carer or partner take control?
Yes — an optional attendant controller can be fitted to either side, giving a partner or carer full push/pull lever control of the Drive when needed, without taking away your independence.
Can I switch back to pushing manually?
Yes, instantly. A hand-operated clutch lever dis/engages the motor — so you can switch between powered driving and manual push throughout the day as it suits you.
